About
Hi, my name is Dan. Welcome to Marble Fitness.
This site is all about upping your A-game, both physically and mentally. Oh, and it’s also about having a pretty good time while we’re at it.
A little about me:
- I became interested in fitness development shortly after I started kickboxing about a decade ago. It started out as a way to boost my fight game, but after I put some meat on my skinny teenage bones, I started loving to work out just for the sake of getting in better shape. There’s nothing quite like the thrill of getting stronger and faster, but the best part is another side effect of hard training: a stronger will.
- I’ve been in the martial arts and combat sports for years; it’s a huge part of my life. I love training in Muay Thai kickboxing, boxing, no-gi BJJ, and arnis/kali/escrima. I’ve also had the pleasure of training in Krav Maga, karate, Shaolin kung fu, American kickboxing, San Shou, and even live steel fights in full medieval armor. I don’t claim to be some type of ultimate ninja warrior of epic destruction, I just love the arts. They’ve given me a lot, and I really enjoy the constant process of learning.
- Another big passion of mine is rock climbing. I started a little over a decade ago, and I’ve been climbing on and off since then. It’s a great sport, and I’ve been having an amazing time training in the climbing gym and taking trips out to places like Horse Pens 40, Foster Falls, and Rock Town. Climbing is excellent cross-training; some of the guys I’ve climbed with have insane amounts of grip strength.
- If you stick around for a little while, you’ll probably also hear me talk a lot about food. I LOVE cooking, and I love eating even more. Yes, I’m one of those annoying people who posts pictures online of delicious stuff that I’m cooking and eating. I know, it’s a problem. No one’s perfect.
And finally…
While I have had some great mentors and have done a substantial amount of research, I am not a doctor or registered dietician. I don’t want to be anyone’s guru, and I’m not some all-knowing fitness sage. And while we’re on the subject, if some “expert” tries to tell you that he knows everything there is to know about fitness… he is lying to you. New information on health and wellness is being discovered all of the time; what we might consider a “fact” today might be considered a laughable myth in ten years or maybe even a year from now. Just like everyone else, I’m constantly learning and refining my knowledge base.
Thanks for checking out my website, and I hope you enjoy yourself here.
